Overview
Objective: To knock over the pumpkins before the opposition
Learning Outcomes:
- Throwing for accuracy.
Set Up
- Set up the playing area with two throwing areas (on each side) for both teams with pumpkins (cones with balls) set up in the middle of the court.
- Split students into two teams and assign playing area.
- An equal amount of students should be placed in both throwing areas.
- There should be one throwing object (tennis ball) for every two students.
Instructions
- On go, the students throw the objects at the pumpkins in the middle attempting to knock them over.
- Students continue to throw the objects at the pumpkins until all the pumpkins have been knocked over.
- The first team to knock over all the cones first wins.
Key Rules
- Students cannot throw from in front of the throwing line.
- Students can collect balls if they have stopped in front of the throwing line but must return before throwing it.
- Students must throw overarm and the ball cannot be rolled.
Safety Considerations
- Ensure students are aware of objects at all times.
- Ensure warm-up is provided to students prior to the game.
Modifications
- Modify distance for throwers.
- Modify throwing object size.
