Pumpkins Bullseye

Overview

Objective: To knock over the pumpkins before the opposition

Learning Outcomes:

  • Throwing for accuracy.

Set Up

  1. Set up the playing area with two throwing areas (on each side) for both teams with pumpkins (cones with balls) set up in the middle of the court.
  2. Split students into two teams and assign playing area.
  3. An equal amount of students should be placed in both throwing areas.
  4. There should be one throwing object (tennis ball) for every two students.

Instructions

  1. On go, the students throw the objects at the pumpkins in the middle attempting to knock them over.
  2. Students continue to throw the objects at the pumpkins until all the pumpkins have been knocked over.
  3. The first team to knock over all the cones first wins.

Key Rules

  • Students cannot throw from in front of the throwing line.
  • Students can collect balls if they have stopped in front of the throwing line but must return before throwing it.
  • Students must throw overarm and the ball cannot be rolled.

Safety Considerations

  • Ensure students are aware of objects at all times.
  • Ensure warm-up is provided to students prior to the game.

Modifications

  • Modify distance for throwers.
  • Modify throwing object size.
